Something new everyday...

One of my New Year's resolution that I'm still trying to keep up with is try something new everyday - no matter how small it is. For example, I tried vegan for a week and the other day I decided to take a new road I've never tried before on the way home.

Yesterday I went to a networking event on my own and met a hilarious guy who moved from Texas to Los Angeles to be a comedian. I was completely in awe of his determination and have never met anyone like him. So that was cool.

Not sure what new thing I shall do today. But who knows where life will take you right? Especially in LA.

Have you gals tried something new lately where you were nicely surprised by it's outcome?

Today I pulled out my polka dots, pearls & greens. By the way I love this little clutch that I got from Target for $10!

What I do on Singles Awareness Day aka Valentine's Day

Yup that's what my friends and I call today - Singles Awareness Day!

Is there a usual routine you guys fall into for Valentine's Day? For example, dinner and a movie, dinner and a stroll, dinner (that's it).

I like to spend this day watching my favorite rom-coms and romance dramas. For example, my all time favorite is Pride & Prejudice. And I've seen it twice today already and the days not even over.

Okay, I saw it last night after 12 am and I saw bits of it today during lunch. So that counts right?

It reminds me that you will never know where you find someone that interests - even if it's the person you were not attracted or disliked from the beginning. You Just Never Know.

So I'm wrapping myself up today with my fur buddy (my vest) and quite possibly, just maybe watch my fav movie again when I get home. I promise I'll stop tomorrow (quite possibly maybe).

Weird messages on your blog

Yesterday I posted a few items I'm loving that are in my fav color at the moment, electric yellow. My title mentions sunglasses. Today I receive this message in of my comments:

"Approximately 20.5 million Americans (17.2%) over age 40 have a cataract in at least one eye, and rates are expected to rise to over 30 million by 2020. Wearing sunglass, especially early in life, may reduce the risk of cataracts."

Now that above is an interesting fact. But I also received sunglasses ads sales below it. I know I haven't received my fair share of weird spam message yet since I'm new to blogging and I didn't turn on the feature to "prove that you are a human" so it's my bad.

Oh by the way, have you ever heard the voice that voices to you what the numbers and letters you're suppose to type are? It's for the spam blocking feature when you're trying to leave a comment.

I listened to it once and I regretted listening to it in the dark with only my laptop on. It sounded like the exorcist was reciting the numbers in the slowest possible way.

Here's something to brighten up my day - yellow!

How I lost weight...unintentionally...

I had briefly mentioned previously that one of the new things I tried this year was being a vegan for a week. A strict vegan - no butter, milk, eggs, chicken broth, chicken seasoning - nothing. Turns out it was hard being a strict vegan because I didn't eat sauces or anything that even had milk, butter, cheese. Which surprisingly a lot of foods included without us knowing.

For example, I was looking through the ingredients of a balsamic dressing, with plain sight you wouldn't think there was cheese included but there was actually finely grated cheese listed in the ingredients.

One awesome thing though that I noticed? No preservatives in the food in the food I ate because they had to be prepared healthily and by myself. I didn't feel sluggish all day (just extremely hungry every hour).

So I started eating meat again couple of days ago and I immediately fell into a food coma. Immediately.

Another result? My tummy slimmed down and the pair of jeans I wear in my outfit below usually fit very snug, but they didn't. They were just comfortable enough. I even wore a belt with my peplum top and it was at it's last loop!

I wasn't trying to lose weight but I felt the differences in how my body felt. But I couldn't say much for my mood though because I was hungry almost all day because I craved chips, chocolate, and junk food.

Would you gals ever try being vegan, even for a day?

Ugh, why?

I had a pulled a long night last night, not due to work or anything, I was up watching this series that I could not put down. Nor did I have to get up early this morning. I was thinking ahh, perfect, sleep in late a little.

But noooo..... I can not expect the world out there to not move, not product any noise, or just rest all morning.

There was light construction going on outside, a lawn mower that was busily buzzing away, and a dark barking. This didn't happen all at once, just simultaneously as if they were on queue.

Anyone ever feel this way? Ok, maybe I'm just a weee liiittlle tiiiny sensitive right now. Haha.

I tell myself I can not let this control me this morning. So yes, like I mostly do here I have my casual Fridays!

I just can't get over it

I just can't get over it. Some past experiences have been pulling at the back of my mind. They were mentally wrecking experiences. I can't get over them and am trying my best to move on from these experiences and not let them shape the way I see my relationships with others. It's been almost a year now.

I started this blog over a month ago and am so glad I found this as an outlet for me to put my thoughts out there because sometimes even my thoughts and feelings are hard to verbalize to those around me.

I like the creative outlet this provides me and also forces me (not in a bad way) to refocus on improving my thoughts and emotions.

Do you know what this "forces" me to refocus on? Personal style! I brainstorm on creating outfits and it makes me excited to try things on. I admit I have days where I just want to throw on my old sweats but putting images out there almost everyday, makes you really refocus on yourself.

Have you gals ever felt that way? Like even if you reach only a handful of people, you get excited and start throwing yourself further into your blog?

What I would never wear again

Yesterday I had mentioned that I'm trying different colors; colors I've never imagined myself to even dare try. My new fav color is neon/bright yellow. I do love yellow but always the pastel shade of it. I always thought wearing anything brighter I would be a walking lemon.

I am absolutely in love with this sweater but probably would never wear it again. Why you might ask? Because it snags everywhere! I had slipped on this sweater for a second and while flinging it over my head, a tiny thread got caught on a splinter of a hanger. To make it worse while I was pulling it out of the closet rack, it was not budging so I pulled harder thinking it was too snug on the rack but no! It was caught on another button and a snag was dragged even further.

I was getting upset at myself for nothing! I love this sweater but I'm afraid to move it in.  By the end of today, it'll probably just be a large knit HOLE.

What do I do? What would y'all do?

Nonetheless...

Has this ever happened to you?

Has this ever happened to you? Years back I was telling myself pink just isn't my color. It's a color that is just a bit too girly for me and not edgy enough. I would sometimes avoid the color, especially bright, hot, neon pink because it was too bright for my taste.

And remember this happened to me recently as I sat in my walk in closet like every morning, contemplating the outfit possibilities...I looked up and pink was scattered throughout. I had not realize it but as I was consciously trying to steer away from pink, pink was one of the colors i had unconsciously geared towards.

Today is a dedication to the color pink, not only for breast cancer awareness but also for ladies who say they don't think a specific color suits them. I ask that you try an outrageous color and see how you feel that day. Does it lift you up mentally and emotionally because you are doing something out of the ordinary to you?

Of course, I have been over the phase of no pink a while ago but it gives me some food for though. My next color...neon yellow.

What is your SSB?

Secret Single Behavior. You know, like how Carrie Bradshaw stated. What is your SSB? Or do you realize you have a SSB?

My SSB? I guess I can relate to Charlotte and Miranda's SSB. I stare at my blemishes (not for an hour) but before I go to bed to notice more or less any new marks on my face. It's like as if they would magically disappear by the next morning (yeah right!). And I love to watch infomercials, especially cooking ones.

But something I'd like to do without anyone around? I love to watch re-runs of movies and tv shows while eating. Not the new shows or movies because with those I feel like I have to pay attention to catch the details that are new to me. I like to watch re-runs and eat/snack at the same time because in that split second I'm looking away, I won't be worried I did not catch any vital details.

I'm not doing this in secret but I secretly love to do this when no one is around me. Just feels comforting, like my own zone.

Tonight, I'll be having dinner and drinks with my girls in Downtown. So I found a casual outfit for jeans day and something that I can wear at night. I'm surprised with how comfy the entire outfit is including the heels!

Dress to, well, Impress!

Today is a "I'm dressed for a conference" type of a day. I wanted to pull out some dresses in hopes of picking up the Thursday mood! Just today and one more day to go. I tell myself "You can pull it together today, you can do it." Do you sometimes find yourself telling yourself that?

Here's something I found on lovely Pinterest that is sure motivation:

Oh also, I am on day 2 of eating vegetarian for a week and I give mad props to those who have dedicated their lives to being a vegetarian. It is sure not easy when you are a newbie trying to be creative in your meal options. Yesterday I had Asian ramen with vegetable sushi for lunch. Dinner was mushroom and spanish tortellini.

Anyone know of any great vegetarian meal options? Please let me know!

Blue Skulls & Studs

How many of us are really keeping up with our 2013 resolutions?

For me, it isn't because I would not like to keep up with my resolution but I have a harder time remembering to do it (there's prob an app to help you remember). One of mine being: do something new everyday that you've never done.

But I do remember once in a while (=P) and last night my mom has suggested being vegetarian for a week. It has never crossed my mind to be a vegetarian full on but I will definitely try my best to be one for a week. Wish me luck!

Today I'm sporting one of my favorite pair of heels. I love these because my heels come out of my pumps when I walk and these heels have a strap across like Mary Jane pumps. They make me feel a bit safer despite the height of them! Haha.

Hot & Cold

The weather has been playing wonderful tricks on me lately. It was 80 degrees last week but this week has dropped to mid 50's. I'm nearly confused pulling my sweaters and maxi dresses out at differently days. Today I paired cream hues together to match with my comfy booties. One upside to the cold is that I get to pull out my long coat which has bows on the faux pocket flaps. Love!

This look is keeping me real cozy right now and I'm ready to step out outside!

What is your favorite item for the cold?

It's been a little tough to get back into the swing of things. I almost even booked an abrupt trip to Paris due to my family's wishes but that fell through. I've never been to Paris and never thought my first trip there would be this kind of experience if it were to happen.

Thank you again for everyone's kind words. My family and I will make it through!

In keeping up with getting back into the swing of things...I attempted to brighten my day up a bit with bright colors - pastels! I love the color mint green and coral so this is outfit is secretly wishing for the spring days to arrive sooner.

What colors do you gals love for the upcoming spring?

Pearls, Studs, & The Ellen Show

Last night I had the privilege of being in the audience for The Ellen Degeneres show. It was so much fun! She was super sweet, funny, and absolutely adorable. I can't believe her show is in its 10th season. Of course she had a lot of her audience dancing all throughout the show!

Outfit of the day to sport my new fav piece I made - strands of pearls and rhinestones. I appreciate how the pearls give a small gentle touch to the amount of studs on my jacket... also gave the black and white a pop of red!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Skulls & Sweaters

Trying to keep it warm today (been a dreary day).

I truly believe fashion is always recycled and renewed. For example, I was watching a foreign tv show and saw one of the characters wearing a skull scarf. I thought, interesting, never seen a skull scarf. That was 2.5 years ago.

Fast forward today? The skull scarf is so in! How did the stylist know? Well, maybe it was started in that way... who knows but luckily it did!
